A Mess

Sometimes, I suppose, projects don't work.

I found a pattern for a baby blanket. 11 panels. "Good for busy mom's on the go." [Or New Yorker's who don't like carrying too much stuff around]. Then I was to reverse single crochet them together. The instructions warned that I was to count carefully, make sure the stitches are accurate so they would go together--of course.

I counted and counted and counted. And I have 11 differently-sized panels. It doesn't work.

This blanket was to be for my childhood neighbor's third and hopefully final kid. I think it will be born in March.

The blanket's a mess. I have learned to love the colors as I have spent time with them. What do I do? Make each panel into a scarf for a small child? No child would wear this as a scarf. Sew them together, intentionally, all random? Maybe I will do that? Throw them away? That would break my heart. Unravel them all? So many hours of work!

Help!
